PPP Personal Brand Development: Branding and Business card.

Personal Branding, I have developed my logo type as this year has gone as you can see with the branding of my presentations ect, I felt that initially the creation of an image based logo would be effective however this to me showed signs that the logo would become lost over time and this would mean my brand identity would be constantly changing, This is not something i want, i started to look at how i could design a logo that could stick with me for a long time. Something that will be with me forever and people would recognise as a representation of me and my work. My idea was to create a logo that would be a sort of signature to my work and by using my full name this was achieved.

What i want to communicate.

Professionalism
High quality finish
A real sense of quality

How have i communicated this i feel that by using the typeface i have selected "Bidoni Classico" i am able to communicate the sense of quality and professionalism, It was vital that i show this quality through something as delicate and beautiful as a ligature this is brought into the design when the kerning of the type is experimented with i feel this not only gives the design an aspect of memorability but also communicates the quality i can bring to brief/ can offer to a client.

The stationary design is kept simple and using a lot of negative space showing my modernist approach to design, always ensuring that communication is key. All un necessary information is stripped back as there is no need for it to appear only vital information that is needed is communicated.

Again the web design is kept simplistic and ensures for simple navigation and use of the sight, this again should communicate my approach to design.

Print Based Experimentation Show Below

The images show how i have carried my concept of simplicity and quality along into print, the information simply explains what i do and how to contact me, The application of the embossing plier gives the design a instant feel of quality and gives the viewer some thing to engage with due to how tactile the emboss feels.

Placement Feedback Form: Turnkey & Summer Placements.

It was vital too me to ensure i did not leave uni with no idea of where i see myself within the industry, i feel that by undergoing the placements i did i have found my feet within the creative industry, Below is a list of placements that i have taken on while studying at leeds college of art what i learnt from them.

Saatchi & Saatchi

This placement was a huge one for me at this stage i was puzzled as to what i wanted to work within was it creative advertising or branding and identity within a design studio. I found that working here starting off the studio environment was much like an office space. and the levels of input and communication with the creative directors was very low. I realised that it would take years to work up to be come a creative director and this is something i wanted to achieve much quicker.

The same applied to the following Placements;

BBH - Advertising Agency.
Channel 4 - 4CREATIVE.

although these placements where very beneficial to me i realised that for me personally it would be much more effective if i work in a much smaller environment allowing me to give much more input when approaching a brief.

TurnKey:

I was approached by a branding and marketing/Advertising agency based in leeds this was very promising for me as these where my two areas of speciality within the creative industry, I was given a placement in which i was involved heavily with work and loved every minute of it. I even got a chance to prove myself when it came to a creative/Art direction role as this is where is see myself in the future it was a huge step for me. I seemed to make a great impression and was actually offered a full time job at TurnKey that i will be starting as soon as college is over.

The feedback form below shows my progress at TurnKey.

PPP Manifesto Presentation:

I have created this manifesto based around my life in general and my life as a designer. This will be used as a constant reminder to me of what is most important in life and design,

 Wake the F*ck up.

The Early Bird catches the worm, this is all about not only getting enough sleep to live a healthy life, its is also based around the fact if you want to achieve a goal you must put the hours in. Wake up early and put the work in thats how goals are achieved.

Always ensure that I remember life is not about work, its about enjoying yourself!

Enjoy your work, if you hate what your doing leave and find something you love. Work should not feel like work.

Learn. Knowledge makes everything Simpler, This can be related to design in the way that to crete an effective piece you must have a strong body of research to achieve this. The understanding of a subject will make the design much simpler for you.

Competition is Healthy. Always set challenges as this will drive you to succeed, this allows you to get your work out there. Challenge your friends and others this challenge will not only be beneficial for your but also for those around you.

Cut No Corners. give 100% at everything, full dedication ensure that everything is finalised to its full potential.

Surround yourself with loving people, it is these people in your life that bring you happiness.

Get Paid. Payment after hard work is the best feeling ever, however ensure that money is not the ruler of your life.

Why so serious. work does not always have to be serious laugh a lot, its good for your mental health and even in the toughest situations always have a laugh.

And back to the most important statement of them all, life is far to short to sit and over think or be depressed at times, just enjoy life with people you love and most of all have fun.

My plan of Action:

From this point now i am focusing in on preparing my portfolio, placements and really trying to find the dream first job, I plan on working in the north, mainly Leeds or Manchester for a few years to really gain some great experience from here i then plan on moving to London.
